Gearbox overhaul at Heidelberg Materials
We overhauled two heavy-duty gearboxes for a roller press at Heidelberg Materials in Velsen-Noord. Our teams in Uitgeest and Zevenhuizen worked together on the project. Both gearboxes were reinstalled on schedule, allowing the installation to return to service.
Two planetary gearboxes weighing over ten tonnes each
The overhaul involved two Siemens planetary gearboxes, each weighing over ten tonnes. These gearboxes operate continuously under heavy loads and require careful maintenance and specialist expertise.
After dismantling the gearboxes on site, we sent one to each of our two workshops. This allowed us to match the work to the capacity and expertise required.
Overhaul in Uitgeest and Zevenhuizen
One gearbox was overhauled at our Uitgeest workshop. The second, which required more extensive maintenance, went to our Zevenhuizen workshop.
During the overhaul, we worked on several components. The shrink disc was overhauled and fitted with a new seal. The fluid coupling on the input shaft was removed and replaced with a previously overhauled unit. We also replaced the torque arm bearings.
Back in operation on schedule
After the overhaul, our service technicians reinstalled both gearboxes at Heidelberg Materials. By coordinating the work between our workshops, we brought together the expertise and capacity needed to return the installation to service on schedule.
