Replacement of a 30-tonne scrap shear

Theo Pouw Groep commissioned us to replace a 30-tonne scrap shear. The new shear would enable thicker steel plates to be processed, improving scrap processing efficiency. During preparation, however, we found that the existing foundation did not meet the requirements of the new installation. A suitable solution was needed.

The solution

Our design team developed a robust frame capable of withstanding the substantial forces acting on the structure. The frame was tailored to the new scrap shear and met all specifications and requirements for safe, stable operation.

Fabrication and installation

Our certified welders fabricated the frame in our workshop. All welds were checked and approved by our specialist welding inspector. The completed frame was then transported to site for installation.

Working with our partners Riwal Benelux, Boels Rental and Mammoet, which supplied a crane rated at 300 tonne-metres, we completed the installation quickly and without complications.

The result

A new, fully operational 30-tonne scrap shear, safely installed on a robust supporting base that meets the client’s demanding requirements. The upgraded installation enables Theo Pouw Groep to process thicker steel plates efficiently, significantly improving scrap processing.
