Specialist tugboat maintenance at Damen Shiprepair

A technical challenge on board

We carry out a wide variety of work at different locations. One project that stood out took place at Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf, where Facta worked on board a tugboat docked for two weeks of major maintenance.

During this maintenance period, our technicians overhauled two propulsion motors. This is specialist work in itself, but these were particularly unusual permanent magnet motors.

The motors’ magnetic field required extreme precision throughout the work. Ferromagnetic objects were attracted towards the inside of the motor, so tools, components and equipment had to be carefully checked and handled.

With close attention to safety, quality and detail, service technicians Rick and Daan completed the work, preparing the propulsion motors for reliable operation once again. Specialist projects like this demonstrate one of our strengths: carrying out complex maintenance on site.
